No Added Sugar Smoothie Bowls

"Low sugar" doesn't have to mean bland, tart, or artificial. These smoothie bowls get all the sugar needed from frozen berries and a light drizzle of honey. The cold-pressed juice is key to adding nutrients and enough liquid to blend your berries without overloading on sugar.

When I had morning sickness during my first pregnancy, these smoothie bowls were all I wanted to eat for breakfast every day, even though it was winter!

  • ¼ cup cold-pressed juice (try Evolution Fresh or Trader Joes' cold-pressed juice)
  • ¼ cup plain greek yogurt (I like whole milk yogurt because the fat is actually good for you and helps you stay full)
  • 1 cup mixed frozen berry blend (I use a blend of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries)
  • your favorite granola to sprinkle on top
  • fresh toppings of your choice: sliced bananas, pomegranate seeds, fresh berries, and pineapple are my favorites
  • honey
I use a Vitamix for a smooth texture, but any blender will do the trick. Blend the juice, yogurt, and frozen berries together until they are well pureed. Pour into a medium sized bowl and add your favorite toppings. Drizzle with a little honey and eat it before it melts!
